5 MINUTES?!? NO WAY!!!

YES WAY!!!

I ran 5 minutes STRAIGHT tonight...not once...but TWICE!!!

I decided to go ahead and move on to C25K's week 4 workout. Which is 5 minute warm-up; 3:00 min. run; 1:30 min. walk; 5:00 min. run; repeat and then a 5 minute cool down. So that means that I ran for 16 MINUTES total tonight! I still can't believe it!

I got to use my new MP3 player this time, which I've convinced is the only thing that got me through the 5 minute runs...especially the second one (Thank you Nickelback). There are two bad things about listening to music while running, to me anyways. 1. I want to dance...and that's impossible while running and 2. I can't hear my Garmin beeping so I had to look at it frequently.

I was pretty slow, but I just wanted to finish without having to stop and walk during a running interval...and I didn't! HA...take that HUSBAND! David didn't think that I could do it. Booger!

Here are my splits. I was hoping for better...but hey, I've never ran 5 minutes straight so I'm happy! : )

Day One Day One
C25K Week 4 Time Distance Avg Pace
1 05:00.0 0.25 19:45
2 03:00.0 0.22 13:46
3 01:30.0 0.08 19:01
4 05:00.0 0.34 14:42
5 02:30.0 0.13 19:15
6 03:00.0 0.19 15:40
7 01:30.0 0.07 20:02
8 05:00.0 0.31 15:57
9 05:00.0 0.26 19:12
10 02:32.4 0.14 18:49
What's cool to me is that, total, I ran just over a mile tonight! : ) I have never ran a whole mile! Pretty soon I'll be able to run a whole mile straight! Its so cool to see my progress! : ) I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

  3. Excellent job! You're past the 5 minute hump. That was the hardest for me. It's all down hill from here. Once you can do fives, the rest is easy:-)

  4. YAY Ernie! I knew you could do it :) That is so awesome. See, music (that you don't have to sing yourself) makes it so much easier. Glad you got the MP3 player.

    1. Tonya, I was terrified too! I still can't believe that I'm able to do what I'm doing now, let alone the 60 second runs I started with. If I can do it...you can DEFINITELY do it! : )
